Don’t Just Apply A Band-aid, Find the Root Cause!

Being in business is really about solving peoples problems.

Being a marketer is figuring out what those problems are, crafting the solution, communicating this solution to the market all whilst doing so profitably.

When it comes to providing those solutions to the problems it’s better to find something that fixes the root cause rather than just treating the symptom of the problem.

Think about it like this – if you got a nasty cut on your finger from a broken window you might apply a bandaid and that would seemingly solve the problem.

But someone else might come along and cut themselves on the same broken window.

A good marketer would solve the problem both of the cut in the here and now and also fixing the broken window.

This is just one example but root causes are all around us, all you need to do is to see them.

Once you know the root cause the quality of the offering you bring to market can go way way up.

Marketing will get easier as people strive to lighten their mental load knowing that they likely won’t have the same problem again.

When it comes to identifying the root cause it will look different for every business but a good starting point is to dig into the conversations you have with your customers (you are having those right?) and find out why they reached out to you in the first place.

From there you can reverse engineer what the root cause is and figure our how to solve this for your customers.
